The undated footage captures a group of three thugs vigorously frisking a man in broad daylight before making away with all his valuables. In the shocking incident that took place under the glare of public attention, two men first approached the unlucky victim from his front before a third thug joined in from behind, totally blocking his way. Within the split of a second, the group quickly began ransacking the gentleman shortly before one of them pulled a gun to his head and forced him to move to the side of the street so they could give him another proper body search. The occupants of a saloon car next to the alley can be seen scampering for safety and hurriedly locking their doors. A report compiled by the Nairobi Region Security Research and Information Centre (SRIC) shows that Mlango Kubwa is one of the five hot spots of crime in the capital city. The report said some of the common crimes in the area include snatching of car accessories like side mirrors, assault, armed robbery, drug peddling, kidnapping, mugging and break-ins.
