Land Case: Nelson Havi vows to fight for Visa Oshwal Primary School in Court

Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi with some teachers at the Visa Oshwal Primary School LSK President Nelson Havi on Saturday vowed to defend the Visa Oshwal Primary School from 'land grabbers' "I joined parents, students and teachers of Visa Oshwal Primary School for thanksgiving and to deliberate discriminatory action taken by Shree Visa Oshwal Community Nairobi Registered Trustees to convert the School from public to private and evict the management and students. I will lead the School’s legal team in the appeal now before the Supreme Court to assert the public status of the school as determined by Lenaola J, and reverse an adverse judgment by the Court of Appeal. The Community should consider maintaining the public status of school." The school was forced to ask parents, the community and well-wishers to fundraise so that it can afford to hire lawyers for the court case. "It is unconstitutional and inequitable to send away 2,000 students and 60 teachers in a multi-racial public school, in favour of 400 students in a single race private school.
