Watch: Viral Clip That That Led to Arrest of Controversial Garissa Politician Bare Sahara Ahmed
Police on Sunday arrested Garissa-based politician Bare Sahara Ahmed following remarks captured in a widely circulated video tied to rising tension in Garissa and the deadly attack in Tseikuru, Kitui County.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the statements captured in the clip are under review for their role in fueling division and unrest, particularly in the period after the fatal shooting of 22-year-old taxi driver Adan Mohamed Hassan at the Modika Barrier on the Garissa–Dadaab route.

Investigators are now examining whether the remarks may have influenced retaliatory violence in Tseikuru, where seven people were killed in an incident that has further heightened national concern over security and cohesion.
Ahmed is currently in custody and is expected to be presented in court on Monday as investigators continue to piece together the sequence of events linking the Garissa shooting, the viral video, and subsequent violence.
Authorities have deployed additional security personnel in both Garissa and parts of Kitui County in a bid to stabilise the situation and prevent further escalation, with the government signalling a firm stance against incitement and actions that could deepen divisions.
Below is the video that is now at the centre of the investigation.
