In 2018, Deputy President William Ruto promised to give the Kenyan football national team Harambee Stars a token of Ksh. 50 million if they managed to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
This promise was made just days before a crucial fixture against Ethiopia at the Kasarani stadium; a game that attracted huge crowds as they came to witness the nation make history and qualify for the competition for the first time since 2004.
The team now says that months later, the DP is yet to honour his promise and according to FKF Chairman Nick Mwendwa, efforts to reach William Ruto have all been in vain.
The competition kicks off in June 2019 in North African nation Egypt.
We at CNYAKUNDI.COM urge the Deputy President to kindly fulfill his promise even if it means skipping one of his church donation sprees and giving the team the much needed money in order to help with the tournament's preparations.
