Panic erupted at the Maasai Mara airstrip on Monday, June 1, after a small aircraft crash-landed, triggering a swift response from authorities and nearby personnel.

Footage showed a white aircraft, believed to be a Cessna 208 Caravan, landing awkwardly on its nose with its tail raised, while people rushed toward the scene. Several vehicles were also seen moving across the airstrip as the incident unfolded.

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) confirmed the incident through communications officer Kenya Wildlife Service, noting that emergency response teams were deployed immediately after the crash report.

“Indeed, there was a plane crash incident reported at the game reserve,” he said, adding that investigations were still at an early stage.

KWS further confirmed that no casualties had been reported, though the number of passengers on board and flight details, including its origin and destination, have not yet been established.

Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the crash as investigations continue.

The incident adds to a series of aviation-related emergencies recorded in the country this year, including a recent skydiving aircraft emergency landing in Diani where all passengers survived without injuries.
