Meta Rolls Out “Plus” Subscription Plans for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp Users
New paid tiers to offer enhanced features, analytics, and customization as company shifts beyond ad-driven revenue model
Newsroom 2 min read
Meta has announced the global rollout of its new “Plus” subscription plans for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, marking a major shift in how users access premium features across its social media platforms.
The company also confirmed it has begun testing additional paid tiers targeting businesses, creators, and Meta AI users as it seeks to diversify revenue beyond traditional advertising.
According to Meta, the new subscription packages are designed for “power users” who want enhanced functionality, deeper customization, and advanced analytics across its apps. Each platform will have its own version, including Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus, and WhatsApp Plus.
Meta said the plans are not replacing its existing Meta Verified service, which focuses on account verification, impersonation protection, and customer support.
Under Instagram Plus, subscribers will gain access to features such as tracking how many users re-watched their stories, creating expanded audience lists beyond close friends, extending stories beyond 24 hours, and previewing stories without appearing in viewer lists.
Facebook Plus will offer similar enhancements, while WhatsApp Plus will introduce features such as custom themes, additional pinned chats, personalized ringtones, list customization, and premium sticker packs.
Meta is also introducing experimental AI-based subscription tiers, including Meta One Plus and Meta One Premium, aimed at improving productivity and content creation tools. The premium version will reportedly offer deeper reasoning capabilities for complex tasks.
For creators, the new Meta One Advanced tools will provide increased visibility, improved content reach, enhanced analytics, and recommendations for optimized scheduling and audience targeting.
The company says these features are designed to help users grow their audiences and better understand engagement patterns, though they may also appeal to heavy users seeking more control over their experience.
Meta executive Naomi Gleit, Head of Product, noted that the AI and professional subscription tiers are still in early development but are expected to expand and evolve over time as the company refines its monetisation strategy.
