A video clip has surfaced showing opposition leaders led by former Mithika Linturi sharply criticizing the appointment of Cheruiyot as the new County Commissioner for Meru.

During the gathering, Linturi accused the newly appointed commissioner of enabling banditry and cattle rustling, while urging Meru residents to reject his deployment to the county. He further alleged that the official had previously failed in handling insecurity issues.

Cleophas Malala, who also appeared in the clip, claimed that Meru and neighboring regions were being strategically surrounded by commissioners and security commanders drawn from President William Ruto’s community. Malala alleged that the appointments could be used to influence security operations and voter turnout during elections.

Meanwhile, Martha Karua questioned the transfer of the commissioner from Samburu to Meru, arguing that concerns had already been raised about his performance in the previous station.

Another local leader in the video also accused the official of tolerating cattle rustling and insecurity, claims that had not been independently verified by the time of publication.
