Airtel Africa Posts KSh 385 Billion Profit in Half-Year Results

Airtel Africa PLC achieved a profit after tax of $376 million, equivalent to approximately KSh 385 billion, for the half-year period ended September 30, 2025.

Therefore, marking a 375% surge from $79 million the previous year.

This strong performance stemmed from robust revenue growth, data surpassing voice as the top income source, and gains from currency appreciations like the Nigerian naira.

The results highlight the company’s strategic push into digital services across its 14 African markets.​

Revenue and Growth Drivers

Group revenue climbed 25.8% to $2.98 billion, with constant currency growth at 24.5%, fueled by higher tariffs, data usage, and mobile money adoption.

Data revenues jumped 37% to become the largest stream, while mobile money revenue rose 33.9%.

Also, supported by a customer base nearing 50 million and transaction values up 35% to nearly $200 billion.

In East Africa, revenue increased 18.5% to $1.05 billion, driven by 25% higher data consumption per customer at 7.3 GB monthly and 5G expansion to 1,467 sites.​

Profitability and Financial Health

EBITDA grew 33% to $1.45 billion, lifting margins to 48.5% from 45.8%, aided by reduced financial costs from $528 million to $304 million through 95% local currency debt conversion.

Operating profit rose 35.9% to $959 million, and net cash from operations increased 41.8% to $1,388 million.

Airtel declared an interim dividend of 2.84 cents per share, up 9.2% year-on-year.​

Strategic Highlights and Outlook

CEO Sunil Taldar emphasized digital innovation, smartphone penetration at 46.8%, and the MyAirtel app’s role in customer engagement.

Preparations for an Airtel Money IPO in early 2026 remain on track, positioning the fintech unit for further expansion.

These results underscore Airtel Africa’s resilience amid economic shifts, with a focus on network upgrades and fintech growth.
