Kenya’s women’s volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, are stepping up their training for the 2025 FIVB World Championships, set for August 22 to September 7 in Thailand. They’ll face tough opponents in Pool G—Poland, Germany, and Vietnam.

The team is currently training at Nyayo Stadium and focusing on key skills like serving, defense, and setting.
Head coach Geoffrey Omondi says the players are in good shape, and they aim to perform well in Thailand.
Omondi also addressed concerns about dropped players, stating that selections were based on performance and that the team is going through a rebuilding phase.
Captain Meldina Sande praised the players’ hard work as they fight for spots on the final squad, which will be cut from 20 to 14 players.
She said they’re not just going to participate, they want to make an impact.
Veteran player Veronica Odhiambo highlighted the need for leadership and teamwork, saying they hope to win at least one match and are pushing each other to do their best.
The final squad will be announced before a warm-up tournament in Vietnam, happening from August 15 to 20.
