Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula Kenyans on social media have trolled Senator Moses Wetangula over a Tweet he posted, alleging that the fight against corruption should not look like a settlement of issues.

"The fight against corruption should not look like a settlement of 'issues'! Avoid the drama we are witnessing." Wetangula posted on his officials Twitter account.

Many Kenyans, that responded to his tweet reminded him that he could be next, in relation to the Tokyo Embassy Saga.

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula was behind the disappearance of Sh1.2 billion during the Tokyo Embassy sale and the illegal sale of a Turkana Oil block for Sh840 million when he was Foreign Affairs minister.

The government lost more than Sh1.1b on land deals in Tokyo, which proved unsuitable for the embassy for which it was planned. It was alleged that Wetang’ula disregarded advice from his own office that the land in Tokyo was overvalued and purchased the plot above its market value nonetheless.

The report revealed that no valuation of the plot by an independent, reputable, local firm was commissioned and that the purchased property was unsuitable. It also said Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs under Wetang’ula rejected a suitable plot offered by the government of Japan.

Wetang’ula’s role in the ministry’s land deals in Belgium, Nigeria, Egypt and Pakistan which resulted in poor value for money hurt taxpayers.

In 2015, a BBC investigation also named Moses Wetangula into a bribery scandal involving British American Tobacco (BAT). Panorama found BAT illegally paid politicians and civil servants in countries in East Africa. The payments were revealed when a whistleblower shared hundreds of secret documents.
