In many incidences, victims of domestic violence hardly ever speak out due to the fear inflicted on them by their abusers.

The situation becomes even worse when it comes to men suffering from domestic abuse thanks to the false set of “attributes” or “behaviours” that every man is expected to portray due to his “masculinity”.

One of those false attributes suggest that a man isn't allowed to show weakness and, therefore, many men in abusive relationships prefer to stay quiet, with hundreds losing their lives every year as a result.

According to Alex, a young English citizen who endured mental and physical abuse for three years, he did it for his son.

In a short documentary put together by the British Broadcasting Corporation [BBC] Alex tells the story of how an exceptionally keen police officer saved his life after years of silent suffering under the mother of his two children.
