Your post has resulted in a conversation among parents and other class 8 leaver parents seeking to identify a safe space for their teenage children.
When we trust our children with an adult, we expect the teachers and principals to behave in a fair and appropriate manner in the interest of the students as our agent. We expect them to be the first trusted point of call when our children are struggling with any problem or issue.
The school has reverted back to parents with the below letter asking us to phone the numbers below separately if concerned:
- Why is the school afraid to meet all parents in one meeting?
- They have an open door policy which they are careful to put in quotes as indicated in their own letter. Is this truly an open door policy?
- The school seems more concerned about the reputation from social media negative publicity instead of constructively engaging parents.
- Why does the letter fail to address the issue of emotional bullying of our daughters? What does the school mean by "misleading"? Yet they are not coming out to deny that no girls were falsely accused of attempting to burn the school, no student was warned not to speak with their parents and to further confirm that they provided class 3V/4V parents sufficient information following the complaints students made on harassment? Since these are all false claims why is the school not openly stating that no child was threatened in an attempt to have them not inform parents about the happenings in school? Has the school confirmed that there was no physical canning and beating of the teenage field in front of their schoolmates and teachers and the principal by the parents in the presence of ms mulinge who misled the parents courtesy of trumped-up accusations?
- Has the school met the affected class parents together or do they want each person to phone separately to allow them to single out the "problem children".
- To the directors who believe genuine concerns are best addressed through recommended channels, this statement alone is very telling to how very far removed you are from the goings-on in the school that Cucu and Guka started many years ago. Investigate your management team and deal with the high handed ways of the principal. How about polling former students if you truly believe the concerns are not genuine?
- Finally, the parents are not concerned about an isolated incident. They are concerned about the repeated incidents and not "an incidence" as stated in the letter.
