Huduma Centre GPO in Nairobi will open on Monday August 17, 2020, the Ministry of Public Service announced through a statement on Saturday.
However, in an effort to minimize traffic and time spent queuing for service, the ministry said Huduma Kenya will gradually be rolling out a service by appointment system.
“Starting Monday August 17, 2020, you will be required to book an appointment before visiting Huduma Centre GPO Nairobi,” read the statement.
“To book an appointment, visit www.hudumakenya.go.ke, select book appointment and follow the steps on how to book an appointment for the desired service(s).”
The statement however added that one will not need an appointment to be served in the other 4 Huduma Centres in Nairobi or the other 51 centres countrywide.
Huduma Centre GPO was among others that were temporarily closed on July 14 for fumigation amid rising number of COVID-19 cases in the city and high number of traffic. Covid-19 Ministry of Health and World Health Organisation (WHO) measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus is behind the appointment-only model.
Kenya’s covid-19 caseload has risen to 29,849, with 515 more testing positive yesterday.
Since the first case was discovered in March, there have been 15,970 recoveries and 472 fatalities.
