Nairobi City Council askaris have devised a new method of keeping idlers off the city's Central Business District.

It has been established that the askaris are now pouring oil on the city's sidewalks and parking areas where many people like to seat everyday.

The move has, however, not been received very well by Kenyans on social media who feel it is stupid and unnecessary.

One Kenyan called Sydney said through his Twitter handle, “They need to come out and say what they want. These spaces are used for meetings for those who don't want to go to hotels. If they want license fee they just say. This is not okay.”

Another one by the name Galmolo said, “I believe in life nobody is an idler. Most of these people either can't afford to meet in hotels, some detest hotels and their food.”
