The Kenyan High Commission in Canberra has confirmed the death of 25-year-old Kenyan woman Sheila Chebii in Australia under unclear circumstances, saying investigations have officially begun.

In a statement on May 25, the mission said it is engaging Australian authorities to establish the cause of death and is closely following ongoing coronial processes.

The embassy acknowledged public concern but urged restraint, warning against speculation or sharing unverified claims as inquiries continue.

Chebii reportedly died on May 18 after arriving at her workplace, with her family raising questions over conflicting timelines, injuries, and CCTV footage linked to the incident.

The High Commission said it remains committed to supporting the family and ensuring a full, transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
