Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has joined leaders and representatives from minority and marginalized communities at the ongoing “Voices of the Plains” cultural event in Laikipia County.
The event, organised by the Executive Office of the President through the Minorities and Marginalized Affairs Unit led by Josphat Lowoi, brings together communities including the Samburu, Turkana, Pokot, Borana/Somali, Yiaku and Laikipia Maasai.
The forum is aimed at celebrating cultural heritage while promoting inclusive tourism as a key pillar of the “Magical Kenya” brand.
Leaders at the event said the initiative is intended to preserve indigenous traditions and create new economic opportunities for local communities through tourism-driven development.
