A multi-agency security team has thwarted a suspected terror attack along the Garissa–Dadaab Road after recovering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) during a patrol in the Haji Aden area of Garissa County.
According to police reports, officers on routine patrol spotted a suspect behaving suspiciously by the roadside on Saturday, May 23, before he fled into nearby bushes upon noticing security forces.
A swift pursuit led to his arrest, after which officers recovered the concealed explosive device in the area he had been standing.
Security teams also recovered military-style clothing and two mobile phones believed to be linked to the suspect’s movements and communications.
The suspect was taken to Garissa Police Station as investigations continue, with authorities indicating that forensic analysis of the recovered items is underway.
