At least one person injured after supporters of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) clashed outside Chelemei Polling Station in Kapsasian Ward on Thursday as voting got underway in the high-stakes Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election.
The confrontation unfolded amid claims that some DCP supporters were attacked while heading to polling stations and that party agents were initially denied access before intervention allowed them in, with the contest between UDA candidate David Kipsang Keter, popularly known as Dollarline, and DCP’s Vincent Rotich drawing national attention as an early political showdown between President William Ruto and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
