The Ministry of Health has issued a public health advisory after a hantavirus outbreak linked to the cruise ship MV Hondius sailing in the Atlantic Ocean, where the World Health Organization (WHO) has reported eight confirmed cases and three deaths among passengers and crew.

Director General of Health Patrick Amoth said there are no reported cases in Kenya, with the risk to the public remaining low, while health authorities have intensified surveillance at points of entry and urged Kenyans to observe hygiene measures, avoid rodent exposure and monitor for symptoms after travel to affected regions.
