On Friday, April 24, Hong Kong students sat for their delayed university entrance exams under strict health measures. The exams, originally scheduled for March 27, were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of the measures, students were required to wear face masks, undergo temperature checks, and submit health declaration forms before entering the exam centres. Invigilators also wore gloves as they distributed papers and hand sanitiser to students.
Robots were deployed at some exam centres to help disinfect desks and chairs, while hand sanitiser was made available to students in the waiting areas. The education bureau had prepared 200,000 bottles of hand sanitiser for the students.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Hong Kong has managed to keep its daily number of new infections in single digits for 13 days in a row. The city has recorded 1,035 COVID-19 cases since January, with four deaths.
Earlier in the week, the city extended its strict rules, including a ban on gatherings of more than four people and the closure of entertainment venues, until May 7.
