On April 22, 2020, Tanzania confirmed 30 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the national tally to 284, according to Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa.
Of the 284 patients, 256 are responding well to treatment, while 7 are under intensive care.
The country has seen a significant rise in COVID-19 infections in the past week, with 11 recoveries and 10 deaths reported since the first case was announced.
According to the Prime Minister, 2,815 people who came into contact with the confirmed cases have been traced, with 1,733 of them discharged after testing negative for the virus.
However, 12 of the contacts tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently in isolation.
The new cases were spread out in 17 regions of mainland Tanzania, with Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar leading in the number of coronavirus infections in the country.
