On April 21, 2020, Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi announced that Safaricom would be offering a free communication package to health workers.
The package, which includes three months of internet bundles and airtime, is part of the mobile network's continued support to the government during the pandemic.
Dr Mwangangi expressed gratitude to Safaricom for its generous contributions, including a donation of close to Sh10 million for thermo-scanners.
“Let me also acknowledge the contribution of mobile network providers and in particular our national carrier Safaricom through its foundation and other donations that have come so far, they have contributed close to Sh10 million for thermo-scanners,” Dr Mwangangi said.
Additionally, Safaricom has waived sending money charges below Sh1000 and rolled out the Bonga for Good initiative, which enables customers use Bonga Points to pay for essential goods and services.
