A bank robbery in Matuu, Machakos County, has been caught on CCTV, showing the suspects' daring heist on July 27, 2021.
According to eyewitnesses, the robbers entered the bank at around 9:00 a.m. and took everyone hostage, closing the doors.
"The thugs got in the morning as the staff opened the hall. It was around 9:00 a.m. They took everyone hostage and closed the doors," a witness stated.
Witnesses also reported a heavy exchange of gunfire, with the suspects shooting in the air. One of the robbers was reportedly shot in the arm.
Police officers have launched an investigation into the incident, which is similar to another bank robbery attempt in Nairobi's CBD on July 2, 2021.
