On April 18, 2020, a group of individuals in Nairobi attempted to circumvent the government's COVID-19 movement restrictions by disguising themselves as mourners.

They hired a driver and an empty coffin to travel to Siaya, but what they didn't know was that their driver had contracted the virus.

When the group was stopped at a police roadblock, they were put under quarantine, but it wasn't until April 18, 2020, that the driver's test results came back positive.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe warned that the driver's positive test result had exported the disease to Homa Bay, and that the entire group was at risk of contracting the virus.

He also criticized police officers who were accepting bribes to allow people to breach the COVID-19 movement restrictions in Nairobi, Kwale, Mombasa, and Kilifi.

As of April 18, 2020, Kenya had 262 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 13 deaths.
