As the new year begins, tourism industry stakeholders at the Coast are looking forward to a better 2020, building on the gains made in 2019. According to Sam Ikwaye, the Coast branch boss of the Kenya Association of Hotel Keepers and Caterers, hotel bed occupancy is expected to remain above 60 per cent up to Easter holidays, largely due to conference delegates and meetings.
Ikwaye noted that the industry remains upbeat about the continued peace in the country, despite ongoing debates on the Building Bridges Initiative report. Meanwhile, hoteliers are embracing sustainable tourism, calling for cleaner beaches.
