West Ham United Football Club has parted ways with manager Manuel Pellegrini following a string of disappointing results, including a 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City on Saturday.
The decision to sack Pellegrini comes after a run of just two wins in 14 games, with seven defeats in their last nine league matches, leaving the Hammers in 17th place in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation zone.
West Ham joint-chairman David Sullivan expressed disappointment at the decision, stating, "It is with great disappointment that we've had to make this decision."
However, Sullivan emphasized that the club felt a change was necessary to get back on track and meet their ambitions for the season.
"Manuel is a gentleman and it has been a real pleasure to work with someone of his calibre," Sullivan said.
Despite significant investment in the team over the past 18 months, with over £100 million spent on players such as Felipe Anderson, Sebastien Haller, Pablo Fornals, Andriy Yarmolenko, and Issa Diop, Pellegrini has failed to deliver the desired results.
West Ham will now host Bournemouth on January 1, a match that will be crucial in determining their fate in the Premier League.
