10 Soldiers Die, 13 Hurt in Kenya Military Chopper Crash

On June 24, 2021, a tragic incident occurred in Kajiado West, south of Nairobi, when a Kenya Air Force helicopter crash landed during training, resulting in the loss of 10 lives and injuring 13 others.

The incident occurred around 9am, with the helicopter circling in the air for over 20 minutes before crash landing.

According to Zipporah Kioko, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Spokesperson, the Mi 171E helicopter crash landed, and those who were injured were taken to the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital in Nairobi.

The bodies of the 10 soldiers who died in the crash were moved to Nairobi, and aircraft accident investigators were at the scene to establish the cause of the crash.

Deputy County Commissioner Muranga Morakwa noted that the KDF has been training in the area for a long time.
