On December 16, 2019, Judge Otieno Odek's body was found in his locked room in Kisumu, where he had been staying after failing to appear in court for a case.
According to the DCI, the autopsy report submitted by the main government pathologist, Johansen Oduor, did not match the findings from the scene where the judge's body was discovered.
Judge Odek had been scheduled to appear in court on December 16, 2019, but he failed to show up, and his body was later found in his locked room.
Pathologist Oduor had stated that Judge Odek died after blood accumulated in his leg and one of his veins burst, but the DCI has rejected this report, citing discrepancies with the findings from the scene.
Police had also found six packets of a substance used to enhance sexual potency near the judge's body, but the autopsy report did not mention anything about the presence of these substances in the judge's body.
