On December 22, 2019, National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale declared his unwavering support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential ambitions, calling them 'unstoppable.'
Speaking in Garissa Town, Duale, a staunch Ruto ally and Garissa Town MP, dismissed claims that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) would hinder Ruto's quest for the presidency, stating that his supporters were aware of ODM leader Raila Odinga's alleged attempts to lock Ruto out of the 2022 presidential race through the BBI.
"We are ready to support Ruto all the way, whether the BBI comes up with a parliamentary or presidential system," Duale said, adding that he and his supporters preferred a pure parliamentary system, which would ensure equitable distribution of national resources.
However, Duale emphasized that Jubilee's focus should remain on its social contract with Kenyans, which includes improving health and education, and creating employment opportunities for the youth. He urged Kenyans not to be misled by Odinga's alleged attempts to derail Ruto's presidential bid.
