Kenya's Kenneth Muguna and Abdallah Hassan scored crucial goals to help their team secure a 2-1 win over Tanzania in the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

The match, held at the KCCA Lugogo Stadium in Kampala, Uganda, saw Tanzania's Gadiel Kamagi score a consolation goal in the 85th minute from a spot kick.

Kenya had to overcome a psychological setback after their shock 4-1 defeat by Eritrea in the semifinals to end on a high in the East African derby.

Despite Tanzania's early possession, Kenya found the breakthrough first, with Muguna scoring in the 15th minute after connecting a cross from Wamalwa.

Abdallah extended Kenya's lead to 2-0 in the 33rd minute after finding space on the left wing and beating Tanzania's David Mapigano.

Tanzania's ambition seemed to fizzle out as the match wore on, but they managed to halve the deficit with Kamagi's goal in the 85th minute.

The match ended with Kenya securing the bronze medal in the tournament.
