As a marketer by profession, I never thought I'd venture into the skincare industry. However, my son's severe eczema and my own struggles with the condition led me to experiment with natural oils, which eventually became the foundation of my business, The Monarq Naturals.
My journey began when my seven-year-old son was diagnosed with eczema. Despite trying various remedies and visiting numerous dermatologists, we saw little improvement. I decided to take matters into my own hands and conducted extensive research on natural oils. I discovered that eczema cannot be healed completely, but it can be managed.
Through trial and error, I found that certain oils worked better for my son than others. I also learned about the importance of identifying triggers that exacerbate eczema, such as specific foods, soaps, and detergents. This knowledge helped me develop a range of natural skincare products that cater to different skin types and conditions.
After successfully managing my son's eczema, I decided to share my products with others. I started by giving samples to my clients at my salon and beauty product supply franchise. The positive feedback I received encouraged me to launch The Monarq Naturals at the Luo Festival in August 2019.
Today, my business has become popular in Kenya, and I'm proud to say that I've created a range of products that cater to the growing demand for natural skincare. I've also learned valuable lessons about entrepreneurship, including the importance of patience, perseverance, and listening to customer feedback.
As I look to the future, I plan to introduce more products, including hair treatments, shampoos, conditioners, and soaps. My goal is to make natural skincare accessible to everyone, and I'm committed to continuing my research and development to ensure that my products meet the highest standards.
