Published on December 16, 2019, Ann Waiguru, the governor of Kirinyaga county, has called for an immediate apology from Kennedy Ombima, alias King Kaka, over a viral song titled 'Wajinga Nyinyi' released on December 14, 2019.
Waiguru claims the song's lyrics are highly defamatory and depict her as extremely corrupt, having engaged in the theft of public funds at the National Youth Service (NYS).
The governor's lawyers, Kiragu Wathuta and Co. Advocates, have sent a demand letter to King Kaka, asking him to pull down the music video that mentions Waiguru.
The letter states that the song's lyrics have 'greatly lowered the regard and esteem in which our client is held by right thinking members of the public in Kenya.'
Waiguru has given King Kaka 48 hours to issue a full, unconditional admission of liability in writing and to pull down the music video.
She has also demanded that King Kaka write an official apology and pledge an unconditional commitment to never release any defamatory songs against her.
The letter warns King Kaka of a fresh suit for every redistribution of the song.
