Kenya is home to many talented celebrities who have made a name for themselves in the entertainment industry. However, what many people do not know is that some of these celebrities have parents who are prominent pastors.
One such celebrity is Nyashinski, a household name in Kenya's secular industry. Nyashinski's father is a pastor, and the singer often incorporates God or spiritual lyrics into his songs as an ode to his dad.
Another celebrity who comes from a Christian background is Pitson, known for his hit song 'Lingala Ya Yesu.' In an interview with Parents magazine, Pitson shared that growing up as a pastor's child was not easy, citing the pressure and stigma that came with it.
'There was a lot of pressure and stigma as a pastor's child and little room for mistakes or normal reactions to a situation such as anger or hatred,' Pitson said.
He added that he often wished his dad had an office job like other parents, recalling a time when his father gave him Ksh 30 to buy a shirt while his friends were traipsing all over town in the latest trendy attires.
Other celebrities who have parents who are prominent pastors include Amani, a gospel artiste who has spoken about the challenges of growing up as a pastor's child. Amani's mother is a pastor, and she has shared that she had to learn to 'share' her mother with other people after all pastors are considered as 'mum' and 'dad' by their followers.
Reverend Lucy Natasha is another celebrity who has followed in her mother's footsteps of spreading the gospel. Natasha is a minister at Oracle Of God, while her mother, Esther Wanjiru, is a pastor with Maximum Miracle Center.
Andrew Muiru, a former leader of Maximum Melodies, is also a pastor and the son of Maximum Miracle Centre's Pastor Pius Muiru. Victoria Kimani and Bamboo are also children of clerics, with Victoria sharing that her parents are still pastors and would prefer her to do gospel music.
These celebrities are just a few examples of those who have parents who are prominent pastors. Their stories serve as a reminder that growing up as a pastor's child can come with its own set of challenges and pressures.
