On Saturday evening, police in Kirinyaga West Sub-County arrested 14 Ethiopians whose vehicle was involved in a car crash at Kibirigwi village. The incident occurred on August 21, 2021, and no one was hurt.

According to Kirinyaga West Sub-County Police Commander Martha Ng'etich, the foreigners included 10 children aged between 12 and 13. The group was in transit to Nairobi before the accident.

"When we checked the vehicle, we found four adults [foreigners] while the rest were children," Ng'etich said. The Ethiopians were taken to Baricho Police Station where they are being held pending arraignment.

Ng'etich stated that the Ethiopians will be charged with being in the country illegally, as they had no documents allowing them to be in Kenya. Two Kenyans believed to have been involved in the suspected human trafficking incident were also arrested and are being questioned.
