On December 15, 2019, a survey conducted by Afro Barometer Network revealed a stark reality about Kenya's economic situation.

According to the research, a staggering 60% of Kenyans are unhappy with how the government is handling the economy, with only 33% believing that the economy is being managed properly.

Urban dwellers were found to be the most disillusioned, with 63% expressing dissatisfaction with the economic performance, compared to 59% in rural areas.

The government's policymakers should take heed of these findings and work towards finding a solution to the poor economic performance.

One of the major concerns raised in the study was the mismatch between the rising cost of living and wage increases, leaving many workers struggling to make ends meet.

The economy has been plagued by problems such as job losses, with thousands of workers being laid off due to a slowdown in hiring and static wages despite rising inflation.

The consequences of job losses are far-reaching, affecting not only the individuals but also their dependents.
