On August 24, 2021, Huawei FusionSolar unveiled its integrated solar energy solution system for residential use in Kenya, the Luna 2000. This flagship product is part of a new line introduced by the company last year.
The Luna 2000 is a residential energy storage system (ESS) that promises optimal electricity costs. It is designed to increase the self-consumption rate of solar energy and provide critical support during power outages or load shedding.
According to Huawei, the Smart Solar solution harnesses more than 30 years of expertise in energy solutions. By integrating AI and Cloud technology with Photovoltaics (PV), the company has further incorporated the latest technologies for optimal power generation.
Speaking at the launch, Huawei Kenya CEO Will Meng emphasized the company's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and accelerating carbon neutrality in the countries it operates in. He noted that the Luna 2000 is suitable for residential scenarios and is part of the company's FusionSolar Smart PV solutions for commercial and industrial scenarios.
Energy Principle Secretary, Dr. Eng. Joseph Njoroge, commended Huawei's new innovation, stating that it will be one of the sources of success in achieving the Vision2030 dream. He noted that the product meets the requirements of the Energy Act 2019.
