On December 5, 2019, a devastating accident occurred at Rupingazi bridge on the Embu-Meru highway, claiming one life and leaving 29 others injured.
According to Embu County Commissioner Abdullahi Galgalo, the two 14-seater matatus were headed in opposite directions when the accident occurred. One matatu was coming from Nairobi, while the other was headed to the capital city.
Commissioner Galgalo urged drivers to exercise caution, especially during the Christmas season, and assured that the police would ensure strict adherence to traffic rules.
The cause of the accident remains unknown as police continue their investigations.
