December 4, 2019, marked a tense day in Kenya's politics as Kieleweke lawmakers expressed concerns over the safety of Interior CS Fred Matiang'i.

According to the lawmakers, led by Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga, Deputy President William Ruto and his Tanga Tanga allies have been constantly attacking Matiang'i, putting his life in danger.

The lawmakers claimed that Ruto's camp has been warning Matiang'i and his PS Karanja Kibicho to 'learn from history,' referencing the mysterious deaths of former security ministers George Saitoti and Joseph Nkaissery.

George Saitoti died in a plane crash in 2012, while Nkaissery collapsed and died in 2017, just days before the general elections.

Wanga stated, 'We have seen the DP and his associates warn CS's and PS's he believes are standing on his way to learn from history.' She added, 'Some of the DP associates have asked CS Matiangi and PS Kibicho to learn from the fates of the late Professor George Saitoti and Joseph Nkaissery. These are very loaded and desperate warnings which should not be wished away.'

The lawmakers accused Ruto of targeting anyone who stands in his way to the presidency in 2022, and warned him to either respect Matiang'i or resign.

Wanga further accused Ruto of being insecure and unsure of his worth and future, which she believes is the reason behind his attacks on his juniors in government.

She also claimed that Ruto is angry because the 'taps of corruption have run dry and the fake projects he used to launch are no longer available.'

Wanga's statement was in response to DP Ruto's warning to civil servants to respect Kenyans and not display arrogance.
