On Tuesday, the Sports Dispute Tribunal delivered a ruling that has left the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) in disarray. Chairman John Ohaga ordered a fresh election, citing insufficient public participation in the scheduled elections for this Saturday at the Kasarani Gymnasium.
The tribunal also ruled that FKF's Electoral Board, which was set to oversee the elections, was not properly constituted. As a result, the tribunal cancelled the FKF county elections conducted last week in all 47 counties.
Former FKF chairman Sam Nyamweya, along with Alex Ole Magelo, Steve Mburu, and Moses Akaranga, had filed two cases challenging the validity of the elections and the composition of FKF's Electoral Board, chaired by Edwin Wamukoya.
FKF had confirmed that FIFA had sent two representatives to supervise the elections this weekend. Despite this setback, FKF boss Nick Mwendwa has vowed to adhere to the directive and organize another election by April next year.
