On Thursday, August 19, 2021, CNN Anchor Larry Madowo made history by anchoring news on CNN for the first time since joining the global media giant a few months ago.

Announcing his debut on social media, Madowo said, “NEW THING ALERT! I’m anchoring on CNN International from Atlanta for a little bit. Join me LIVE today and every weekday: New York 12pm | London 5pm | Nairobi 7pm | Delhi 9.30pm,”

After hosting the news, Madowo took to his Facebook platform to celebrate, remarking that ‘today was a good day.’

With this milestone, Madowo has come full circle, having started his broadcasting career at Kenya Television Network at the age of 20. He later worked as a news anchor at NTV Kenya before joining BBC, where he served as the BBC Africa Business Editor and later as the BBC’s North America Correspondent in Washington.

Hosting the news on CNN has seen Madowo return to the US, where he previously worked as a fill-in anchor for the network’s flagship BBC World News America show that airs globally and on PBS stations across the United States.
