On December 3, 2019, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei found himself at the center of a controversy that would land him in trouble with the law.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the senator was arrested and taken to the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road for questioning over utterances he made in August at Kilibwoni Primary School.
The allegations against him were that of ethnic contempt and incitement to violence, with the DCI stating that he would be arraigned over the matter.
It all started in August when a video went viral showing Mr. Cherargei warning critics of Deputy President William Ruto of action, without specifying what that action would be.
