AFC Leopards head coach Casa Mbungo has spoken out about the team's financial struggles, which have led to the departure of several key players, including Malian striker Ismaila Diarra.
According to Mbungo, Diarra's absence was a significant factor in the team's 2-2 draw against Nzoia Sugar at the Mumias Sports Complex on Saturday.
"This is not a game to lose but to collect maximum points. We missed numerous chances and we have lost many players, if a player like Diarra was here he could have helped us but that's football," Mbungo regretted.
Leopards are currently ninth in the league table with 17 points, eight behind leaders Gor Mahia after round 11.
Despite the challenges, Leopards' captain goalie Benjamin Ochan remains optimistic about the team's chances, saying, "It is a tough side but we will try to be consistent with the results as we aim to beat them."
Meanwhile, Nzoia head coach Collins Omondi has shifted his focus to their upcoming match against Kakamega Homeboyz, saying, "Homeboyz is a good side with a good young coach, it is a strong team than AFC (Leopards) and fans should expect fireworks."
