On November 30, 2019, a family in Kalawa was left in a state of panic after their kin, Mumo Ngewa, failed to return from a trip to sell hides and skins in Athi River.

The businessman had left home at 1pm and was last heard from at 7:30 pm, when he informed his wife, Ruth Mumo, that he had checked into a guest house in Athi River.

However, his body was later found with stab wounds, and the family was shocked to learn that they had not been notified of his death before his body was taken to Shalom Hospital Morgue.

According to Government Pathologist Peter Ndegwa, the deceased had been poisoned before being stabbed.

Police officers in the area are currently investigating the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding Mumo Ngewa's death.
