On August 18, 2021, Milimani Court Magistrate Douglas Ogoti ruled that the Sh213 million graft case against former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero would proceed as scheduled, adhering to Ministry of Health regulations to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

According to Ogoti, only the accused persons, their lawyers, and media personnel would be allowed access to the physical court, citing the 30-person limit for 'open space' as per the Ministry of Health regulations.

Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, along with eight other individuals, was charged in 2018 with conspiring to commit an offence of corruption, resulting in the loss of Sh213 million from Nairobi County.

They have denied the charges, and the case will proceed today.
