On October 30, 2019, Martha Wambui and her mother Rebecca Wangui filed an application with the Nakuru Senior Resident Magistrate's court seeking orders to exhume the remains of their father, Henry Mukuria, who had been buried 21 years ago.

The family claimed that the grave had been exposed due to continuous sand harvesting on the land, which had been inherited by Mukuria from his parents. However, the beneficiaries had sold off their legal entitlements to third parties, who had utilized the land for commercial purposes.

Nakuru Senior Resident Magistrate Yvonne Khatambi allowed the family to exhume the body and relocate the grave to a more stable area within the same land. The deceased's widow and children had consented to the exhumation.

According to the court order, the family was granted leave to exhume the body of the late Henry Mukuria for relocation of his graveyard.
