Published on June 30, 2020, a tense evening unfolded in Kesses as goons disrupted a meeting between Kesses MP Dr. Swarup Mishra and his constituents.

Dr. Mishra, perceived as a sympathizer to President Uhuru Kenyatta, has been at the receiving end of hostility from Ruto allies in the region.

According to Rajab Tumoi, a Kesses resident, the community demands that Dr. Mishra respects the Deputy President or face the consequences. 'We demand he respects the Deputy President or he will not be able to work in peace. These people are determined to bring him down because they believe our MP does not support Ruto’s calls for early politics,' Tumoi said.

Dr. Mishra is not the only Uasin Gishu politician facing hostility from Ruto allies due to their relationship with President Kenyatta. Senator Prof. Margaret Kamar, who shifted her allegiance to the Head of State, is also under fire.

Ruto allies, led by Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, have accused Kamar and her Trans Nzoia colleague Michael Mbito of being traitors after attending a State House meeting on Kithure Kindiki’s ouster.
