Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that striker Sergio Aguero will be out for a few weeks with a tendon injury, potentially missing the Manchester derby on December 7.
Guardiola made the announcement ahead of the Champions League group match against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday, stating that Aguero's injury could be a significant blow to the team.
"(Aguero will miss) a few games, I don't know exactly," Guardiola said. "The derby is in two weeks. Maybe we will have a miracle, but I don't think so. He has a tendon problem in front."
Guardiola expressed confidence in the team's ability to cope with Aguero's absence, citing the availability of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling to fill the striker's position.
However, Guardiola noted that Rodri and David Silva, who were also substituted due to cramps, are both fit to play, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is still recovering from a knee surgery.
Manchester City are currently top of Group C with 10 points, five ahead of Donetsk and Dinamo Zagreb, with two games to go.
