Kenya Airways has expanded its London flights following the UK's easing of travel regulations for fully vaccinated travelers from Kenya.
As of October 11, 2021, travelers can fly to London and back every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, with round-trip fares starting at Sh 88,775 from Nairobi.
Kenya was removed from the UK's COVID-19 red list on October 4, 2021, alongside several other countries, including Bangladesh, Egypt, the Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Turkey.
According to the UK's Transport Secretary Grant Shapps, the eased travel regulations will make testing easier for travelers from non-red countries, with fully vaccinated individuals no longer required to take a pre-departure test before arrival in England.
Kenya hopes to capitalize on the eased travel regulations to revive its tourism sector, which was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A report published in June 2020 found that the pandemic had led to massive booking cancellations, with 64.5% of respondents reporting over 90% of cancellations of existing bookings.
