On November 25, 2019, Embu County Assembly was plunged into chaos after Jubilee Party's move to remove Majority Leader Michael Njeru and de-whip nominated MCAs Sicily Njiru and Rose Kinyua sparked rebellion.

Majority Whip Judy Mbuya informed MCAs of the party's decision to drop Njeru from the Majority Leader's position, citing indiscipline and violation of party regulations. Njeru was replaced by Kagaari South MCA Robert Ireri.

However, Speaker Josiah Thiriku dismissed the letters from Jubilee Party headquarters, drafted by Lawyer Franklin Mwendani, as inconsistent with the county assembly's standing Order number 19.

Thiriku claimed he had not received any communication from the Jubilee party caucus regarding the removal of the Majority Leader from office or de-whipping of MCAs from committees.

He subsequently directed the Jubilee party to adhere to the rules it had set and avoid violating the same, in order for its decisions to be admissible at the county assembly.
