West Pokot Landslide: Uhuru Deploys KDF, Assures Support to Affected Families

President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent his condolences to families and friends of victims who were buried alive in a landslide that hit West Pokot county on November 22, 2019.

According to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, the landslide occurred at around 2 am, leaving behind a trail of death and destruction.

Uhuru has assured the affected families of government support until every missing person is accounted for.

He has also directed the deployment of resources, including rescue personnel from the Kenya Defence Forces, the National Police Service, and Special Programmes to the affected region.

Several homes have been swept away, and many residents sustained various injuries while animals and houses have also been buried by the unforgiving landslide.

Joel Bulal, a local administrator, confirmed the devastating impact of the landslide, which has left the community in shock and mourning.
